This page describes what LocalFacts collects and what it does not.

01 / Data

What is collected.

The minimum needed to run the site.

Collected

  • Aggregate, cookieless page analytics.
  • Standard server logs for security and reliability.
  • No email address is collected today; the update list is not connected.

Not collected

  • No advertising identifiers or tracking cookies.
  • No calculator inputs — they stay in your browser.
  • No address typed into the My Ballot helper — it is never sent or stored.
  • No search query — search runs in your browser and the query is not written to a URL or cookie.
  • No watchlist — it is saved in your browser's local storage only.
  • No voter-file data, home addresses, or political affiliation.
  • No sale of personal information.
02 / Email

Email is not connected yet.

No address is collected today.

  • No email provider is connected to LocalFacts, so no signup form collects addresses.
  • When a provider is connected, the updates page will name the provider and show the opt-in terms before collecting anything.
  • If you subscribe in the future, email will be used for sourced updates only, and every email will offer an unsubscribe link.
  • Email will not be shared or sold.

03 / Records

Public records are public.

Officials and candidates have less privacy in their public roles.

LocalFacts publishes information about public officials, candidates, and government contractors from official records. It does not publish home addresses or other personal information beyond what is required for the public record. To request a correction or removal, email hello@localfacts.org.
